Octaaf Callebaut, the grandson of a brewer in the small Belgian town of Wieze, has been secretly working on his first chocolate recipe for some time. For months, the fine scent of freshly roasted cocoa beans had made everyone curious. When brewers were finally allowed to taste the first Chocolate de la Conche, they witnessed the birth of Callebaut’s finest Belgian chocolate. Small shops and their customers from nearby towns quickly fell in love with this new chocolate… and the news spread like wildfire.
